Tree Sale FAQ’s

Have some questions about pick-up, planting, or plant availability? We have answers to some of the most common questions at our annual sale!

Placing an order

  • All orders must be placed online via our store. Ordering opens on January 2nd, 2024.

Pre-sale only. No day of sales.

You must sign up for a pickup time slot using the following link.

As parking is limited at the pickup location, this helps us avoid traffic jams as well as reducing your wait time.

  • If a species is sold out, we are not able to order more. Our tree orders are placed in August as all of the nurseries sell out very quickly.

  • Sorry for the trouble! The website works best on Chrome or Firefox from a computer. Mobile browsers (like from your phone or tablet) can cause havoc, as these browsers are coded differently.

If you are still unable to check out, please be sure to triple check the page, you may be missing a field that was overlooked!

  • All orders must be pre-paid and placed from our online store. Orders must be placed by January 30, 2024.

Picking up your plants.

  • The pick up day for this year’s Tree Sale is February 3, 2024. Pick-up is at the Fisher Pond Warehouse. (NOT the Land Trust building!)

IMPORTANT: After placing your order you must sign up for a pickup time slot using the following link.

This helps us avoid traffic jams at the pickup location as well as reducing your wait time.

  • No! (Unless you are ordering hundreds and hundreds of plants for a major restoration.)

Bareroot stock types can vary from quite small to a few feet tall, but will fit into the backseat of a regular sized car.

  • You can have someone else pick up your order if you cannot make it! Please let them know that your order will be under your name - they will not have plants saved for them under their name!

Please make a note when you sign up for a pickup slot.

  • Leftover orders will be staged outside on the west side of the Land Trust building with your name on the bag. We cannot guarantee their security, so definitely pick them up ASAP!

FAQ Grab Bag

  • ASAP.

If the roots on your plants dry up, they will die.

  • You should “heel in” your plants as soon as possible to prevent the root stock from drying up. This will give you more time to plan their final planting place.

What’s heeling in? Basically, it’s digging a ‘v’ shaped trench, and laying your plant in the trench at an angle so the canopy of the plant is just above the trench, and the roots are completely in the trench. Fill the trench back up with soil, and mulch with leaves, sawdust, or hay.
