Vashon and Maury Islands are very special places that nourish all who live and visit here. These beautiful forests, streams, and shorelines are a gift from the many generations who have cared for them before us.

Today, it is our turn to care for this Island.

Your gift to the Stewardship Fund is a gift to the future health of these lands and waters – and to the future generations that will depend on them.

How does the Stewardship Fund work?

Community members invest in the long term care of Vashon and Maury Islands with a gift to the Stewardship Fund. The Land Trust draws 5% annually from this Fund to power our wildlife habitat restoration and trail maintenance programs. Our goal is to build a fund that will generate enough revenue to support our annual restoration and trail work. Today, the Land Trust spends about $400k/yr to manage the trails, forest, streams and shorelines in our care.

How can I help?

You can help to steward these lands and waters forever by:

  • Including the Land Trust in your estate plans.

  • Making a gift of land, either today or in the future.

  • Making a gift of cash.

  • Making a gift through a donor advised fund or retirement fund.

Uncle Mike loved visiting his niece and nephew on Vashon. Mike’s family decided to honor these memories with a gift from their Uncle’s estate to the Stewardship Fund.
