Planned Giving

This is the easiest way to make a legacy gift to the Land Trust. Name the Vashon-Maury Island Land Trust as a beneficiary of your Individual Retirement Account (IRA), other retirement accounts, or life insurance policy.

If you have access to your retirement account online, this beneficiary naming may take only a few minutes. You can name the Vashon-Maury Island Land Trust as a primary or contingent beneficiary by providing our address (PO Box 2031, Vashon, WA 98070) and federal tax id number (94-3123021)

The following bequest language offers several choices for you and your attorney to consider:

“I hereby give, devise and bequeath to the Vashon-Maury Island Land Trust, a non-profit charitable organization with offices in Vashon, WA, federal tax ID #94-3123021…

(the sum of $_____) or (____ percent of my estate) or (specific items of property)

OR

all (or indicate a specific dollar amount) of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate

…as an unrestricted gift to be used at the discretion of its Board, who may determine how best to apply such gift towards the work of the Vashon-Maury Island Land Trust.”

A contingent bequest provides for the disposition of the estate if one or more of the named beneficiaries fails to survive the donor. The following is language for you and your attorney to consider:

“If any of the above-named beneficiaries should predecease me, I hereby bequeath his or her share to the Vashon-Maury Island Land Trust, a non-profit charitable organization with offices in Vashon, WA, federal tax ID #94-3123021 as an unrestricted gift to be used at the discretion of its board of trustees who may determine how best to apply such gift towards the work of the Land Trust.”
