Film Screening! "Changer: A Hand Telling"
One Night Only!
Backbone Meaningful Movies on Vashon is presenting a screening of Changer: A Hand Telling at Vashon Theatre, on Tuesday, April 8th, from 6-8pm.
Filmed on Lower Elwha S’klallam Tribe land, the film is a timeless, cross-cultural storytelling event bridging Native myths and Deaf culture.
Changer is a visually stunning and emotionally resonant film that reimagines storytelling through movement, myth and memory. Using deaf actors and blending indigenous traditions with contemporary performance, this powerful piece uses the simple yet evocative image of a hand to guide audiences through a joinery of transformation and resilience.
After the screening, the filmmakers will be on hand to answer questions and tell more about the creation of the film.
The Vashon screening will be free, with donations accepted at the door, and is co-sponsored by Backbone Campaign, the Vashon-Maury Island Land Trust, Vashon Theatre, Island GreenTech, and the Meaningful Movies Project.
