Maury Island Marine Park

What was once a gravel mine site is now over a mile of undeveloped, and protected shoreline. The Maury Island Marine Park is home to one of the most important forage fish areas in the Puget Sound, which means a veritable smorgasbord for Chinook Salmon and our Southern Resident Orcas.

There are three miles of mixed-use trails to traverse with some seriously stunning views of Mt. Rainier and the Cascade Mountains. With more land acquisitions in 2022, Maury Island Marine Park will soon have trails that link it to her sister park, Dockton Forest. Visitors will soon have an opportunity for a great 8-mile trip through both parks, a substantial hike right here on Vashon. Stay tuned!
