Kris Olson
Kris grew up on an island on the east coast of New York that has a Nature Conservancy preserve (Mashomack) protecting the nearby waters, shoreline and forest. Oregon is her part-time home now, and she treasures its beaches open to all, plus its vast tracts of public land. Once she became an attorney and tribal consultant, those passions merged. She joined the Trust for Public Land’s Tribal Lands Board and within a few years of buying a home on Vashon, welcomed the opportunity to serve on the VMILT board.
Our local land trust’s mission and values resonate deeply with her, and she hopes to instill them in her grandchildren. She looks forward to learning from the island community and our neighboring tribal partners to conserve Vashon’s unique places and working lands for all beings for generations to come. In times of global warming and vanishing coastline, it feels like a lasting contribution that will matter.
Kris serves on the Conservation and JEDI Committees.
