Stewardship efforts in Shinglemill Creek Preserve have been ongoing for the past 12 years. Countless volunteer and work crew hours have been spent pulling ivy and eradicating other invasive species, planting trees and native understory shrubs, monitoring stream health and documenting fish populations, removing derelict structures, shoring up eroding hillsides, building and maintaining trails, and placing massive woody debris into the streambed to replicate the process that naturally improves the condition and health of a creek.
