In 2005, Island Center Forest was transferred from the State to King County completing the then-largest project the Land Trust had undertaken and providing permanent protection for the Island’s most extensive network of multi-use trails, two ponds, and the headwaters of Judd Creek. In a public ceremony held outdoors in the Forest, Yvonne Kuperberg, representing the Friends of Island Center Forest coalition, presented then King County Executive Ron Sims and then King County Councilmember Dow Constantine with her congratulations for a successful deal well done.
