‘The Bluffs’ above the pit afford some of the island’s very best views, overlooking the shimmering blue waters of Puget Sound and across to the full glory of Mount Rainier. Scotch broom now completely dominates the hillsides, a result of the slopes being fully cleared for the mining operations, which will require a major restoration effort by the County to return the area to a natural state.
