Volunteer with King County Parks and Whale Scout to enhance habitat in Maury Island Marine Park. They will supply gloves, a jug of water, light snacks, all instructions, and tools. Please plan to arrive on time for the start of the event (we can adjust based on updated ferry schedules) and allow extra time to find parking. WE NEED YOU, YOUR FRIENDS, YOUR NEIGHBORS, YOUR COWORKERS, ........ As part of King County's 1 Million Trees project to help address climate change, the Land Trust has committed to planting over 5,000 trees on 63 acres around Vashon before the end of May 2020. Join us on Saturday, Oct. 19 for a community tree planting day in the Judd Creek Preserve to launch the Land Trust's largest tree planting project ever. Soooo much to do during this transition from summer/fall crops to fall/winter crops. Continued production at the farm keeps fresh island produce going to the school district cafeteria, the Food Bank, and island restaurants. Starts for fall crops need to get out of the start house and into the ground. And another hoop house currently under construction needs to be completed. All this and the interns have transitioned fully to tree planting for their final month with the Land Trust.…
