Seed Cleaning Workshop For Gardeners & Farmers

This free workshop is focused on harvesting, cleaning, and storing seeds for the winter.  It will mostly consist of hands on participatory action!  We will be threshing dry beans by hand and demonstrate how to thresh larger quantities.  We will set up a winnowing station to demonstrate this super fun seed cleaning method!  We will also have screens and other seed cleaning tools to test and try.  Bring seeds to clean if you have them!  Or help us clean the…

Volunteer Stewardship Event

Help prepare the site for a new All Ages Trail in the Shinglemill Preserve. This new loop trail will run through and around the meadow adjacent to the Upper Shinglemill Trailhead and behind Vashon Community Care. The focus will be on salvaging and transplanting existing plants located in the path of the new trail. Tools, gloves, coffee and snacks provided.

As part of King County's 1 Million Trees project to help address climate change, the Land Trust has committed to planting over 5,000 trees on 63 acres around Vashon before the end of May 2020. Join us on Saturday, Oct. 19 for a community tree planting day in the Judd Creek Preserve to launch the Land Trust's largest tree planting project ever.
